The theatre scene in Kenya has been under going plenty of ups and downs with the older theatre houses facing the prospects of closing because most of the population does not notice the events and plays that take place at these venues. The absent of sponsors has also contributed to the hardships being faced by this sector. The good news is that cultural troupes are coming up and making the people sensitive to plays right from the villages to the bigger towns and cities. Most of the major towns and cities, however, almost always has something to offer the theatre- going enthusiast and cultural centers such as the Goethe Institute and Maison Francaise have played an important role in promoting these plays |
